Becoming a CMIR - Certified Manager of Investment Recovery

The Investment Recovery Association has recognized more than 250 Certified Manager of Investment Recovery professionals across North America since its inception in 1996. These professionals have demonstrated the work experience and education necessary to take an exam covering areas subject matter experts agree a CMIR should have knowledge in: Surplus Asset Valuation, Warehousing, Sales, Contracts and Negotiations, Recycling and Scrap.

You should make CMIR your goal if: 

  • You are currently employed as an IR department manager, supervisor or provide support within an investment recovery department with three (3) or more years of experience
  • Acceptable character, ability and reputation
  • You pledge in writing to adhere to the Investment Recovery Association CMIR Code of Ethics
  • Develop 35 points from your CMIR Personal Data Form
  • Successfully pass the 120 question, multiple choice exam
